Mr. Charitha Indunil Samarasinghe is the Founder, CEO, and Chairman of CIS International Group, which includes its subsidiary, Tropical Fish International Pvt. Ltd., based in Sri Lanka. After earning his B.Sc. in International Business from Florida State University in December 1991, Mr. Samarasinghe embarked on a 25-year journey to build a company with the goal of creating a world-class product and supply chain within the industries in which it operates.
His business venture began with the importation of ornamental fish from Sri Lanka to the USA, where he personally marketed the products to pet stores in Jacksonville, Florida. Over time, this hands-on experience provided him with deep industry knowledge, which helped him grow a global ornamental fish business empire. Today, Mr. Samarasinghe's supplier network spans over 20 countries, with operations in Sri Lanka, China, the Maldives, and Thailand.
Before pursuing his degree in the United States in 1986, Mr. Samarasinghe completed a diploma in Systems Analysis and Design from NIBM (Sri Lanka). This background in IT has played a pivotal role in his ability to innovate within the ornamental fish distribution industry, driving automation and process improvements. This expertise also laid the foundation for the company’s diversification into the IT and BPO sectors.
In November 2007, Mr. Samarasinghe launched Tropical Fish International Pvt. Ltd. in Sri Lanka as a limited liability company (PV 62178), registered under the Board of Investment (BOI #3738) and Export Development Board (EDB #223010). The company serves as the Quality Assurance and Export hub for CIS International Holdings Corp., ensuring that its products meet and exceed world-class standards for its global clientele.
